Radical Geometry: Modern Art of South America from the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection brings together work from across the continent, produced against a backdrop of political and social upheaval and driven by a fervour for new ideas and boundary-breaking art.
In the video below, Royal Academy curator Dr Adrian Locke introduces some of the key artists in the exhibition, from Joaquín Torres-García - founder of the School of the South in 1930s Uruguay - to Carlos Cruz-Diez, whose work was recently seen in the Hayward Gallery’s Light Show.
Radical Geometry: Modern Art of South America from the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection is at the RA from 5 July - 28 September 2014
