The Booker Prize-winning author of ‘Waterland’ and ‘Last Orders’ reads from his latest collection ‘England and Other Stories’. In partnership with Pin Drop.

  • The latest in our Short Stories series, Swift reads ‘Ajax’ from his collection England and Other Stories and discusses the origins and development of his writing. Of the collection Swift explains, “this book is the result of a sudden return of short stories to me. Suddenly I was writing short stories again, and they were coming at me pretty fast and furious.”

  • I start with nothing, and I find something… I wait for some little insubstantial flicker, tremor, glimmer… [that] for some reason is begging that I pursue it.
