“The problem was not the disaster. It was how we were going to rebuild our lives afresh.”

Artist Aono Fumiaki lives in the Sendai area of Japan, which was hit by the massive tsunami of 2011. In this video, he talks about the art that he made in response to this devastating natural disaster, and the importance of restoration or “re-birth” in his work.
