Non-Members Varnishing Day is a first chance for the artists of the Summer Exhibition to see their works on show.

Originally it was the day when artists would put the finishing touches to their works within the galleries. Now it’s a day of celebration that we share with those who have been selected for the show.

This year is the most diverse Summer Exhibition ever, with artists from a wide range of backgrounds exhibiting work in an amazing mix of media.

Here are some of the artists who create paintings, prints, sculptures, quilts and more, talking about what inspires their work.
