Wallmakers are an office-less architecture firm, looking for new ways to make construction more sustainable in India. Founder Vinu Daniel talks about the inspiration behind his practice and his unique approach to the environment around him.

The Royal Academy Dorfman Award champions architecture from around the world that looks forward to the future of architecture and architectural practice. In 2022 it was awarded to Wallmakers from India, in recognition of the practice’s innovative use of materials and sensitivity to local context and climate.

The Royal Academy has opened doors to the furthest points of the world.

  The Royal Academy Dorfman Award champions new talent in architecture. It is awarded to an architect, practice or collective who are reimagining the future of architecture and taking into consideration geographical and socio-political challenges. The four finalists present their work to the jury and the winner is awarded a £10,000 prize.
  
  Wallmakers were one of four Dorfman Award finalists from around the world, nominated by a panel of architects, experts and Royal Academicians. The 2022 finalists were Semillas, from Peru, Dot Architects, from Japan and Apparata, from the UK.
