Peter Beard’s project, which involves building a walkway from Rainham Marshes to the River Thames, received a special mention in the 2014 European Prize for Urban Public Space. As a new exhibition about the prize opens, we invited Beard – and other architects – to explain how they have been working in Rainham to improve the town’s public infrastructure.

New work in Rainham includes landscape proposals by architects East and What if, the remodelling of existing buildings by Civic Architects and Alison Brooks, and a new library, nursery and housing project designed by Maccreanor Lavington.
